Interpreter services
Scarborough Village Surgery aims to accommodate patients with hearing or language difficulties.
If you or a family member requires an interpreter, please let our receptionist know upon making a consultation. We will then organise an interpreter prior to the appointment.
Scarborough Village Surgery utilises the following services for patients with hearing or language difficulties:
- National Relay Service (NRS) 1800 555 660
- Translation & Interpreter Service (TIS) 1300 655 081
It is advisable we provide TIS with as much notice as possible (5 days is preferred) in order to maximise your chances of obtaining an on-site interpreter.
Test results
At Scarborough Village Surgery, it is practice policy that staff will not provide results over the telephone. This is due to patient confidentiality, and we advise patients who would like to discuss results with their doctor to make an appointment. This will allow your GP to review your medical condition with an examination and organise any further tests if the diagnosis is still unclear.
Telephone access
In order that the doctors are not constantly interrupted during consultation with telephone calls, our practice policy is to send a message regarding your phone call to either the doctor or practice nurse. An appropriate response will be advised to you.
Prescriptions
There are medical, legal, and ethical reasons for our inability to provide repeat prescriptions without the patient attending the clinic.
Our clinic does however provide a Prescription Clinic each week day, between 12:00 – 12.30 pm for patients with regular medication requirements. This prescription clinic is a Bulk Billed Brief Consultation with our GP.
A patient must have been seen by a GP in a regular consultation in the past 6 months in order to qualify for the Prescription Clinic.
After hours care
Scarborough Village Surgery provides after hours care for our patients through Home Doctor Services.
They can be contacted on 13 SICK (13 7425).
Reminder system
Our practice is committed to preventative care, and may send you a reminder notice from time to time, appropriate to your care. Your doctor will seek your permission to be included in our reminder system, however please advise if you do not wish to be part of this system.
Smoking policy
This practice has a strict no smoking policy.
